Chamonix is located in the French Alps approximately 1 hours transfer time from Geneva Airport by Road or Rail. Or if you are travelling by car using the French Autoroute it is approximately 7 hours from Calais. Once there you are situated on the border with Italy, accessed by the Mont Blanc tunnel and Switzerland over the Col de Balme Pass.
